报告摘要:

Complex engineering symptoms of hazards such as operational deviations, miss-haps, near misses, and incidents are the most important information. The advanced approach of dynamic risk management helps us use accident precursor information systematically to have better learning, prediction, and decision-making. It helps to analyze the domino effect both in the design and operation phases of the project.

This talk will present a recently developed approach to dynamic risk management for a domino effect analysis perspective. This approach utilizes advanced probability theory and system condition monitoring, accident precursor information, and accident causation modelling. The model is dynamic; updating is done using the Bayesian updating mechanism as new evidence/information becomes available. The predictive abilities of the model help to make the risk-based operational decision in evolving domino scenarios. Benchmarking and applications of the approach will be also be discussed.

  

报告人简介:

Faisal Khan is a Professor, Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, a Director of Centre for Risk, Integrity and Safety Engineering, at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and the Canada Research Chair Tier I of Offshore Safety and Risk Engineering. He is the Editor-in-Chief to Journal of Process Safety and Environmental Protection. He regularly offers training programs/workshops on safety and risk engineering in different places including St John's, Tehran, Dubai, Beijing, Aberdeen, Doha, and Kuala Lumpur. He is an internationally renowned expert in the field of process safety. His areas of research interest include: safety and risk engineering, inherent safety, risk management, and risk-based integrity assessment and management. He has authored over 400 research articles in peer reviewed journals and conferences on safety, risk and reliability engineering.
